The Saskatchewan High School Rodeo Association is a non -profit organization developed to strengthen the sport of rodeo. Many of today’s rodeo athletes go on to compete at a college level when finished with high school. They also continue the friendships which they developed through the participation in High School Rodeo. The SHSRA is affiliated with the NHSRA which is comprised of 40 States, 5 Canadian Provinces and Australia.
Contestants come from all across Saskatchewan to participate. Our rodeos are held all across the province as well as a few rodeos which we approve with the Manitoba High School Rodeo Association and the Alberta High School Rodeo Association.
Participants and families are encouraged to get involved in what ever manner time allows. A friend is always just around the trailer ready to assist you or your high school participant.
Membership:
Any High School student under the age of 20 enrolled in 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade. Must maintain grade eligibility and meet behavioural conduct standards set forth by their high school and the SHSRA. We also have a Wrangler Division for students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade. All Membership inquiries need to go to Maxine Lehmann.

Entry Dates
All entries are with Gloria (306-567-4295)
6-10 pm (Thursday, one week prior to rodeo)
Members can email entries from Monday to Thursday (day of entries) to murray.gloria@sasktel.net
All paperwork for 2007-2008 Membership must be in to Maxine the Friday before entries take place. No Membership Number-No Entry.

on qualifing for the 2008 College National Finals Rodeo, in Casper, Wyoming in June.

SHSRA Annual General Meeting

SHSRA Annual General Meeting will be held in Weyburn on Sunday, May 18.
Tara will have nomination papers to hand out in Martinsville for event directors and other director positions. If you are interested in having your name stand for any position than get a nomination form filled out. If you know someone that would be a good director than nominate them.
If we have two nomination papers filled out than the Event Directors Positions will be filled with no other verbal nominations. (This will save a consideralbe amount of time)

Attention Team Ropers

Attention Team Ropers

The United States Team Roping Championship, Inc. (USTRC) awards eight regional shoot out spots per NHSRA state and province (Four per High School and four per the Wrangler Division). These shoot-out spots will be awarded to the top four teams at the state/provincial finals (Contestants must be a USTRC member prior to state/provincial finals rodeo). This sponsorship award is held to the following restrictions and criteria:

The NHSRA/Wrangler Division team roping members awarded USTRC regional shoot-out positions can use this position to compete in any one of the USTRC regional shoot-out ropings.

A state or province will not be allowed to roll down to any member finishing lower than fourth place in the team roping if a position is unfilled or a member is deemed ineligible to compete.

To utilize any USTRC shoot-out position, a NHSRA/Wrangler Division member earning this position must be current members of the USTRC, and in good standing at the time the shoot-out spot was earned (the beginning of their respective state/provincial finals).

USTRC regional and national shoot-out positions awarded through this sponsorship to NHSRA/Wrangler Division members are defined as “an earned right to compete in these special USTRC shoot-out ropings”. However, those NHSRA/Wrangler Division members earning a USTRC shoot-out position through this sponsorship will still be responsible for any entry fees associated with the USTRC shoot-out roping.

SHF Individual Memberships

Just a reminder that the SHF Individual/Family memberships run from January to December.
Members need to apply/renew their memberships ASAP in order to qualifiy to apply for any of the individual grants that the SHF awards. Joann Lawrence received a large grant as she was the only one that applied. All members can apply. If you compete at a Canadian Championship or International Championship (Nationals) you could qualify to receive a grant that ranges from $100.00 to $1000.00. They are worth applying for.

REMINDER

Just a reminder to all contestants about your horses health.
If your horse has had any respiratory or neurological problems within 7 days of the rodeo or if you have had any abortions in your mare herd within 30 days of the rodeo, DO NOT BRING YOUR HORSE TO THE RODEO as you may bring viruses into the rodeo horse community. Thank you for your concern and hopefully we can all help keep our horse community healthy and competing.
